3 Anabolic Experiments for Strength Geeks

When I was in 9th grade and my uncle began teaching me how
to strength train, he not only taught me to squat, dead lift and
bench press…

He also taught me how to get my young body to produce even
more anabolic building hormones naturally.

He told me something that most people who train probably already
know, “You don’t grow when you work out, you grow when you
are resting, sleeping and relaxing.”

The reason why we grow when we’re relaxing is because THAT is
exactly when our bodies begin to produce anabolic hormones!

Most people who strength train say they already know this, but
they’re actions are far different from their words… in fact, most
people don’t even know how to rest, sleep or relax.

Including myself!

Recently I have been studying the several forms of mind-body
exercise and Eastern Medicine that act as the foundation for my
Anabolic Energizer exercises.

In the practice of Qigong (or Chi Gung) meditation there are three
things that we have to take mindful control over in order to allow
our body to reach the deep relaxation associated with more anabolic
hormone production.

The cool thing about these three practices is that once we master them
we can use them ALL DAY LONG to stay more anabolic for longer
periods of time.

#1. “Be mindful of your body.” - stop for a moment and take notice
of all the areas in your body that you are holding muscular tension.

You may need to mentally scan your body to notice it, but if you are
anything like me you have at least three spots that you keep tense.

For me it is my traps, the muscle around my right eye and my upper
abdominals.

When you harbor this low level of tension, you stimulate the
sympathetic branch of the nervous system and cause the release of
more catabolic hormones.

Give this a try over the weekend…. I’d rather you experiment with this
one first before trying to add all three methods at once.

Shoot me an e mail (just respond to this one) or post a comment on my
blog about your experiences.

I’ll tell you about the other two some time next week… or when you tell
me you’re ready.
