[...] hulsestrength.com added an interesting post on 4 best exercises for full body conditioningHere’s a small excerpt1. 10. Everyman strength and fitness.
I hit the Y at least 4 times a week, do plate loaded squats (3X15, 550lbs and rising) and a bunch of machines (its what they set me up with), 2 days of yoga, and at least 2 hours of mountain biking a week.
12 weeks of that, I haven’t lost a single pound. Sure, my bench press is up, but is demotivating at this point.
So I’d like to see a program for those of us who work 40-50 hours a week, have a house and a couple of kids to take care of, but still want to get fit.
I’m 6’2″, 256lbs, 23% BF according to Omron, fwiw.

Elliot,
I am over 50 now and a former football player. My body still responds well to the lifting and I am back in the gym after a 5 year lay off.
I notice my abs are MUCH harder to train than they used to be..suggestions? Any supplements that you can suggest for the older athlete?
Thanks!

I’m probably looking to do what most guys are; lose the gut and put on some muscle.
My needs in particular are that I had reconstructive shoulder surgery this year and I went at it a bit too quick and with poor form on my second day at camp so I tweaked my back. It’s nothing serious but, still, a minor injury I need to work with while still working hard.

I played highschool and 1 yr of junior college football and havent played for about 2 1/2 yrs. I am looking for the best way to get lean, strong and fast again. I want my body fat to drop and I need to get stronger, while also getting faster and quicker. Basically get into “football shape” so that I can be competitive on the semi-pro or possibly the college level again. I am 6’2 210lbs. My body fat honestly is probably around 14% or so. I purchased your football strength system but have been traveling for work all summer so i wont be startin it for another couple weeks. I was a little worried that I would not gain the speed and flexibility I need on that program though. Anyways, I really appreciate all your emails and videos so I thought I would give you some feedback like you ask. Those are my biggest concerns. Thanks again!!!

I want to wish the two men in the video best of luck. There’s no doubt that hard work will pay off. My biggest and only concern is putting on about 30-35 lbs of muscle. So want to know the best way of going about it nutrition wise. Hard weight training etc…Is not something I fear at all.

Hey,
I was wondering what a good way to figure out if you have an imbalance between when I push and pull. I can do 35 quality pushups but can only do 6 horizontal rows. What is the ratio of pushups to rows you recommend

A couple of ideas:
1. Powerlifting/Old School Bodybuilding Manual
2. Powerlifting/Strongman Manual
3. Off-Season Beast Building Manual for any sport
4. SIZE & STRENGTH Manual

I have a 15 year old son that is just under 6’5″ and weighs 215 lbs. He’s involved in fb, bb, discus and 200 and 400 mtr sprints. He wants to play D1 ball. He currently runs around 4.8 forty. He has great difficulty with depth in squats, has about 40

Sorry, typing in the dark. He has 40 inch inseam and 6’7 inch wingspan, making pressing movements fairly difficult and dangerous at times. I have noticed weak glutes/hamstrings. do you have any suggestions on non traditional ex’s for him and also being in sports year round, how often should he be in strenth training per week, depending on his sporting season? Enjoy all of the info, keep up the hard work!

@ Jacket – WOW, sounds like you’ve got a BIG boy on your hands. If he is that big, this young… I am pretty sure that he has NO IDEA what the heck to do with this brand new body.
It is like teaching him to move all over again.. . imagine someone just added 7 inches to your hight and 30 lbs in the last 18 months. sounds like hell!
You gotta be patient and work with him on basic stuff again… like bodyweight squats, lunges, chin ups and push ups. If flexibiliity is an issue, challange him with moving in the full range of motion with these movements.
Have him perform low box squat with body wight only… if he has poor balance, let him hold on to a broom stick.
his glutes are probably weak because of piriformis and IT Band tightnesses. google piriformis strech and foam roller IT bands, I may also have a few vids on my blog for these too.
