Do you know your shit? (part 1)

It’s unbelievable… over 31% of the typical mini-van driving, TiVo watching, Lucky Jean’s wearing, Prozac popping, spray-on-tan sporting American hasn’t taken a crap in the last 3 days! This is the same segment of the worlds population that insists that it is “civilized” because they have a functional public sewage system. But in the same regard, their personal sewage systems (digestive tracts) are backed up with putrid, foul and festering feces. If only they were as concerned with the “Colon Compost Collection” leaking through their gut wall into their blood stream and wreaking havoc on their immune system, causing such avoidable diseases as arthritis – as they are with catching a glimpse of Janet Jackson’s nipple during Super Bowl XXXVIII.

It’s all about the poop!

If you are kept up at night with a strange ‘gut feeling’ (forgive the pun). that you are suffering needlessly from a plethora of irritating, yet manageable – but nasty little chronic conditions such as:

-Bad Breath
-Skin Rashes
-Foggy Thinking
-Poor Energy, Fatigue
-Headaches
-Excessive Farting or Burping
-Paunch Belly “Bloated Gut”
-Joint Problems
-Fungal Infections
-Constipation… this list can go on for days!

You are very likely suffering from toxic overload due to severely Dysfunctional Digestion!

Prior to our days of Processed Foods, Proctologists and Prilosec – ancient physicians would diagnose the onset of disease by the analysis of physical and emotional symptoms, along with the analysis of our urine and feces. They would smell, touch and TASTE their patients poop in order to make a correct diagnosis as to the infestation of parasites, presentation of blood or mucus and as means for determining any internal imbalance.

Today, your doctor may ask you for a stool sample on rare occasion, but for the most part patients and practitioners have lost touch with the essential art of fecal examination as a means for maintaining good health and the diagnosis of disease. If you are obsessed as I am with maintaining superior health, strength and vitality well into your middle and old age – then you NEED to read and absorb this article and proceed with the practice of poop screening on a daily basis… if you are even going on a daily basis. We’ll discuss constipation in another article.

Know your shit!

Paul Chek created the diagram below to help his patients understand what to look for in the bowl after an “excretion episode”. Study the pictures and perhaps you’ll notice a character that looks like the creature that stares back at you from the throne. Below the diagram I give a brief description of each poop-animation, the cause for his existence and a few tips on how to defend yourself against him.

Sinker n’ Stinker – This guy is named as he behaves. He is like a smelly piece of black coal that sinks to the bottom of the bowl after an arduous attempt to squeeze him out with tremendous force. His appearance is due to an over exposure to toxins such as processed foods, environmental toxins and medical drugs.

The Swimmer – This guy is light in color and floats. He is a pain to flush. His appearance is due to a high content of undigested fat.

Bodybuilder – This dude is JACKED! He is typically big and round. He makes you strain to get him out of ya. If you pop a blood vessel in your eye ball when you poop, you’ve probably met this guy. His appearance is due to eating too many protein bars and shakes.

Pellet Man – Looks like rabbit poop. His appearance is due to altered states between peristalsis and dehydration.

Diarrhea – “If you’re sliding into first, and you feel something burst… “, this guy needs no introduction. His appearance is due to your crappy diet and your body’s attempt to purge you of it.

The Flasher – If you can identify what you’ve eaten by looking at your poop, you are being flashed! Undigested food particles making an appearance in your bowl is a sure sign that this guy has crashed your party. His appearance is due to food intolerance and an inflamed gut wall.

The Poopie Policeman - This guy is “The Shit”! He is what all of our poopies strive to look like. He is Well Shaped (with a consistent contour), Passes Easily, Light Brown In Color, Smells Earthy – not foul, yet he floats… but not too much. Mmmm.

In part 2 of this series I will discuss “Leaky Gut Syndrome” and why there may be poop in your blood. Also, more common causes of Dysfunctional Digestion and in part 3 I answer the question “Oh, my God Elliott… what the hell do I do about this?!” (this will be complete with an extensive resource section and recommend reading)

You’d be appalled if you really understood this

You may not know this, but at one time I was an organic food FREAK.

I would only eat food from sources that I knew intimately and trusted. In fact, when I lived in New York I belonged to an Amish Farm co-op. The Amish guys would horse and buggy their meats and dairy all the way from Pennsylvania to Long Island just so my family could purchase raw milk and farm raised meat from them.

Things are a bit different here in FL and it is a lot tougher to get my hands on SUPER healthy foods. But, Colleen and I still make a conscious effort to only feed out children the highest quality foods that we can acquire.

You’ve heard me speak about the Systematic Pussification Of The Western Male.

You know?…

The system that forces spry and energetic little boys to glue their asses to a plastic chair for 8 hours per day while listening to the banter of a miserable, middle aged women who’s husband is currently sharing a glass of Pink Champlain with his 20 year old temp.

WEELL, today I stumbled upon something that spoke to my heart!

During a training session with the few women that frequent my fitness camps this morning, the ladies broke into a discussion about “what type of men they like best” and to my surprise they all concurred that a man who dresses, speaks and spits like a man is more attractive to them than the ever-so-popular version of the schlong-slingin’ sex titled “TheMetro Sexual”.

And to drive their point home, they referred me to this Country Music Song by Brad Paisley

My heart was warmed by their admissions. You see, I have tried to be a pretty-boy and do as women please to win their attention, but it always seemed like a fruitless effort.

Luckily Colleen likes my callused hands and arm pit hair cuz’ I’d be a lonely man!

What to do when the sex sucks

We’ve all been there… well, I know I have (my wife reads theses emails, so there is no posturing for me!). You know… when Mr. Winker has got different plans than you’ve got. When your partner is ready to do the “Horizontal Boogie” and the only thing that you can think is…. “Why me? Why now? Come on Buddie just do me this one SOLID!!”

In plain terms, your penis won’t work!

Why the heck is that all about?

We’re supposed to be ready at the drop of a hat and the minute your girls dress drops, so does your Sword.

Warning: If you are looking for information about supplements or creams that will increase your sex drive, don’t bother reading this article. This article is written for dudes who take responsibility for themselves and their life results (and their peckers). I am going to give you the purest, no BS answers to the question: “Why do I suffer from low sex drive?”

As humans, we are sexual beings. Mother Nature designed us with a mechanism that screams “Procreate, so that the species will survive!!!”

I call this your Primal Urge.

‘So what do I do if my Primal Urge sucks?’

De-Stress – You may think that you don’t have much stress, but I encourage you to read on! First in order of de-stressing your physiology for improved sex drive, is that your most primal needs must be met! Safety, Security and Sustenance must all be established.

If your body-mind is busy worrying about your safety, your security and sustenance there will not be enough energy left over for increasing your sex drive. Also, Nature knows that if you are in danger (fight or flight), insecure, and cannot sustain yourself then you should not procreate or create another.

‘So, Elliott… what’s the big deal – I have food and shelter, I’m safe and secure, why does my sex drive still suck?’

Are You Really? Well, let’s take a look at how safe, secure and sustained you truly are.

Although you have ‘food’ (notice the quotes – 90% of the food bought in American supermarkets are processed, devitalized garbage) and shelter, do you really feel safe and secure? If you have been paying attention to the television (you know, that black box that ‘educates’ 90% of Americans) then you are NOT safe, secure and you CAN NOT sustain yourself.

First of all, you can’t even afford the Jaguar / BMW that you MUST have in order to be considered socially acceptable… because of this you have no ‘Primal Association’ – You don’t belong, you are not secure! This is the insidious, subconscious message that you are receiving 60+ times a day.

Is your security system working? it better be, because there is a guy wearing a black winter cap looking through your window right now. Also, don’t you know that the ‘Terror Alert’ is ORANGE! This means that some crazy religious martyr may drive a truck full of explosives into your living room! YOU ARE NOT SAFE. (Obviously I am being sarcastic).

And forget about sustenance – ask yourself if the last meal you ate was really food. As I mentioned earlier, 90% of the ‘food’ consumed in the US is processed…. It is not food! Chances are that – YOU ARE malnourished.

I know that I am ranting, but I want you to know that this is just the tip of the iceberg… Understand that unless you are TRULY safe, secure and are providing your body with true sustenance, you will have a sucky sex drive.

A few quick tips for de-stressing and boosting your sex drive:

1. Eat Real Food – if your ancestors 10,000 years ago did not eat it… neither should you.

2. Get To Bed No Later Than 10:30 pm – this will balance your autonomic nervous system in such a way that you will begin to secrete more Testosterone, Growth Hormone and DHEA… all great for increased sex drive.

3. Meditate / Quite Time – by giving your mind a rest for 20 minutes a day, you not only lower your sympathetic response (fight or flight) by you will increase your ability to get and maintain quality erections!

Why calorie counting doesn’t work

You may have noticed that my blog and forum were not working last week.

As much as a nightmare as it created, I had to move my sites to a new webhost company.
The last one had my sites running too slow.

So, we’re back and BETTER!

First, I want to thank you for the “Forum Moderator” applications. All of them were great, but one stood out BIG time!

Tanner Kolb and I have been teaming up and answering some of your toughest questions on the

Here is an answer to a question about calorie counting and fat loss that I gave one of our members yesterday:

“I’d be nice if human beings were as simple as a mathematical equation. But with all the hormones, emotions and stress that we deal with, 2+2 sometimes equals 16!!!

Your calorie intake and macro nutrient ratio may not be the issue, but if it is… you are not, not reaching your goals because of a lack of a sound program but because the program you are following may not be right for you “Metabolic Type”. (I go into great detail about this in http://www.UnleashYourPrimalEdge.com) but for the sake of this post…

Basically, we are all different (duh?) and based on our genetic heritage and other extrinsic and intrinsic factors we all may get different results from the same exact diet. For example, many people lose weight on the Atkins Diet while others get heart disease and smelly arm pits.

So the trick is to find out where along the “Macro Nutrient Ratio Spectrum” we lie. Basically the 2 extremes are:
1. Fast Oxidizers – who do well with 65-95% proteins and fats : 5-30% carbs
2. Slow Oxidizers – who do well with 40% fats and proteins : 60% carbs

Basically, you may want to find out what your MT is.

Other factors to consider:

1. Are you getting enough sleep, lack of sleep causes an increase in cortisol.
2. Are you drinking enough water?
3. Are you stressed out with family, work or other wise?

The Guts & Grease Diet

I hate diets. I hate people who talk and teach about diets even more. If you can’t tell, I’m a bit angry and confused. For thousands upon thousands of years we as a race of humans have walked the earth in extraordinary health living WITH nature and sharing of her abundance. No diets, just eating.

Instinctual Eating

Food, water and shelter were all provided by her all our needs were met. We were rugged, intelligent and extremely vital well into our older age. A strong example of this reality are the Hunzakut people of the Himalayas. This lost race of people, when interviewed by Renee Taylor in the 1906′s were found to:

Live to 100 and 120 years of age in almost perfect physical condition and mental health no weak and worthless elderly, like we find today.

100-year-old men were fathering children and held down strenuous full-time jobs like moving 700 lb. boulders that have fallen from the mountains out of the road.

Woman of almost 80 looked younger, felt better and are far more active than the average western woman of 40! I’m moving there for retirement! (4)

OK, I can hear you now But Elliott, I am not a primal man and aren’t we far better off today due to medical advances.

My short answers are: Yes, you are a primal man. Today, our bodies are an exact expression of what our ancestors were over 100,000 years ago (2). It is believed that it takes about 100,000 years for the human genome to change 0.001 percent, so you and Primal Man are essentially the same (3).

And: No, we are not better off today with our so-called medical advances. There hasn’t been a cure discovered that doesn’t pose the same or worse risk by taking it, than the disease itself. Just listen to the list of side effects listed when you are watching the commercial with the old guys who urinate on themselves, as if wetting the bed is a disease!

Eat Guts and Grease

For too long we have been told by the dietary dictocracts and poly-unsaturated puppets to stay away from saturated fats, animal products and cholesterol. Today I am setting you free to stuff your face with the same artery clogging diet that Native American’s ate prior to The White Man landing on Plymouth Rock with bags of white flour and sugar. These ‘men of the land’ were rugged, super strong and vital and ate tons of Guts and Grease.

The late Dr. Weston A. Price has documented the most comprehensive study ever, of the primal man and his diet / lifestyle in his groundbreaking book Nutrition & Physical Degeneration (1)

A short history Dr. Price was a dentist in the late 1930′s, he began to notice that an increasing number of his patients were contracting dental maladies such as cavities and rotting teeth don’t we all? And most notably, his younger patients were being born with what Dr. Price called facial deformities.

These ‘facial deformities’ have become commonplace since the 1930′s, they include: crowding of the teeth, crowding of facial features and, a narrowing of the palate and jaw. As well, Dr. Priced noticed an increased susceptibility to illness when these ‘deformities’ were present. (1)

Not only did Dr. Price notice that the physical structure of man was deteriorating but he also noted that the function of the mind and the body was wasting away.

That modern man has been declining in physical fitness has been emphasized by many eminent sociologists and other scientists. That the rate of degeneration is progressively accelerating constitutes a cause for great alarm, particularly since this is taking place in spite of the advance that is being made in modern science along many lines of investigation. (1)

So, like any sane, wealthy, doctor of the time he set out to find groups of isolated primitive peoples through the world. Dr. Price wanted to discover what Man was truly intended to eat and how Man was truly intended to live.

In his travels not only did Dr. Price discover that primitive peoples were happier, healthier and more disease resistant but they were as tough as nails

He was once observing a group of primitive kids playing in a stream of water in the middle of the winter while he and his colleges were freezing their butts off with their big winter parkas on!

The Native American’s lived for thousands of years completely isolated from The White Man. These folks have adapted to their given environments and have learned how to live WITH the land, not just on it.

The Indians of Canada and the Northern Regions

These folks lived in some cold weather! It was seventy below at some points. This meant that they were definitely not farmers and if you told them that you had to eat 7-12 servings of grains a day (food pyramid) they would put a hex on you!

They ate meat, meat and meat with some meat on the side. Every part of the animal was eaten. Of greatest importance were the organs of the animals that they ate. These wise people knew that it was in the organs that all of the potent nutrition resided not in the lean meat. In fact if the meat wasn’t fatty enough it was fed to the dogs! (1)

Think about that the next time some puppet tells you to eat only lean meats and chicken breast.

There was no Colon Cancer observed amongst these people so out the window goes the Meat = Colon Cancer Theory.

These were rugged and intelligent people.

They lived in a country in which grizzly bears were common. Their pelts were highly prized and they captured many of them with baited pitfalls. Their knowledge of the use of the different organs and tissues of the animals for providing a defense against certain of the affections of the body which we speak of a degenerative diseases was surprising. (1)

Their Fad Diet consisted of:

Wild Animals Of The Chase – Bear, Moose, Deer, Caribou etc. These people were strong because the animals that they ate were strong. The wild game that served as a staple in the Native American’s diet were respected for their life-giving properties and lived off of the organic land before being sacrificed for human consumption. I wonder where that chicken nugget you had for lunch came from?

Animal Organs – From the Rooter to the Tooter! The Natives knew that the most nutritionally potent parts of the animal meal were the organs. In fact when a kill was made, our savvy ancestors would immediately cut it open and eat the adrenal glands, liver, pancreas and heart first. All the other meat was either stored for later or given to the dogs especially the despised lean-meat.

Veggies – If they were in the stomach of the animal. Why waste valuable time and energy looking for veggies and cooking them when our friendly animals will do all the work for us. The animals are so kind that they were even willing to predigest the plant food for us. Primal man knew that meat was much more nutrient dense than grains and greens so he ate the animals who condensed all of the plant nutrition into tasty little bites.

Sea Food – Fish, Fish Eggs and Sea Weed. Today our oceans are so polluted that it is nearly impossible to get your hands on some clean, untainted fish. So I don’t suggest dining out for sushi every evening. Fish oil is essential and should be a part of every man’s diet. Today our best bet is to consume a high quality Cod Liver Oil supplement.

These, like all of the people that Dr. Price studied were very healthy until they came into contact with modernized peoples. It has been noted that medical care and surgeries were almost unheard of amongst the folks living traditional lives but, were rampant among those who adopted the White Man’s Ways.

For you to regain your Primal Edge, and avoid sickness and surgeries, take a lesson from these people Eat Real Food. I don’t care if your favorite athlete tells you that it will make you run faster, get bigger or hydrate you better than water, if it wasn’t here 10,000 years ago- don’t eat it. Powders and pills are for p*ssies, eat like a man!
