Meet Elliott In New Jersey (register here)
–

If I had a nickle for every time someone asks me, “Elliott,
when are you coming HERE for a workshop or seminar?”
I’d have enough money to buy my own grass-fed beef & dairy
farm
Well, I’ll finally be visiting the North East for all you Yankees
who are too lazy to fly down south and meet me at my own gym.
My buddy Zach Even-Esh has put together a panel of speakers
for his Underground Strength Conference in June, and asked me
to join him.
I’ll be talking mostly about The Four Layers Of Strength, and
how to apply it for becoming the strongest version of yourself and
helping your friends, family and clients do the same thing!
I may also share some of my new training methods that I’ve been
calling “The Grow Stronger Method”.
So, the bottom line… if you like the stuff that I talk about in my
videos or in this newsletter, then you’ll want to be at Zach’s
conference in June.
For some of you it will be an opportunity to ask me strength
questions and get an immediate answer (it’s like Yo Elliott LIVE).
For others it will finally answer the question, “Is this Elliott guy
for real?”
Here is the link to register for The Underground Conference.

***FOR THE RECORD***
I do NOT earn a commission ($) if you register for Zach’s Conference
at the link above.
The reason why I am inviting you to register is because I genuinely
like Zach and am excited to helping him with this conference.
Also, I am genuinely excited to meet you guys who have been
reading my newsletter and watching my videos.
I really appreciate you and think it would be cool to actually
shake your hand!
See you here:

#1 Enemy To Your Success (how to defeat him)
Before I reveal who your #1 Enemy is, I’d like to remind you
that today is the last day of my Super Magnificent Birthday
Sale.
You can have all of my strength and success secrets for less
than a tankful of gas… and I’ve “drilled my own wells” to
get this stuff
http://hulsestrength.com/go/elliotts-33rd-birthday-sale
I’m going to begin today’s lesson with what may seem as a
cliche question, that is….
“What is success to you?”
Chances are that your idea of success is severely influenced by
popular culture.
You probably see a fancy car, like a Cadillac or Hummer,
sitting in your driveway.
You’re probably wearing a watch that costs more than some
people yearly salary.
Your woman (or man) looks like she or he has been cut out
of some fashion magazine, complete with a plastic smile and
ridged, lifeless midsection.
I’m not sure about you… but all of this sounds more like
PRISON than success to me!
The amount of emotional and life energy required to uphold the
facade of modern success leaves most “go-getters” feeling
trapped and empty on the inside.
Me, I’d much rather a life of freedom. The “anchor” of things
and image have no appeal to me.
Instead, I see success as freedom to be, think and do whatever
I want… regardless of what anyone thinks or says.
Freedom from the fears, neurosis and limitations of the sick,
sad, over-weight, over-stressed, empty and depressed people I
see everywhere.
The #1 Enemy to this type of success (if that’s what you want)
is YOU!
As disturbed and neurotic as the people you see playing this
game of “success” are…
It is totally up to YOU to either join their game OR create
your own game, and play by your own rules!
When you actually sit down and dig deeper to discover what
success REALLY means to you, and then design your life around
achieving that reality…
Then you’ll really be a success (at least in my book)!
No one has EVER achieved the life of their dreams by imitating
others. Especially not by imitating the idiots on television.
The only way to live your dream is to first have YOUR dream.
Fuck what everyone else says or thinks
The first book in this package tells you all about how I am going
about my life, by focusing on my dreams and living by my rules.
There might be some other good ideas in there for you too.

…so I showed her my BUTT
A few years ago I took a creative writing class with a
woman named Stephanie.
One of the Stephanie’s first rules about creative writing
was to “show your butt”.
Basically, she meant that you shouldn’t hold anything
back… totally expose yourself.
And that’s what I did (and STILL do to this day).
I show YOU my “butt” in this newsletter, in my videos
and in the books that I write for you.
I doubt there are many other fitness experts online that
are as candid and generous as I am with their
information.
When I wrote my first “personal development” book
The Manifesto Of Strength, my main purpose was to
show you exactly what makes me… me.
From my childhood to my experiences with sports,
religion and failure.
I took this book off the market a few months ago since
some of the ideas in it may be TOO revealing.
But to this day I still get e mails and messages from people
who have told me how my book has changed their lives.
It’s THAT powerful!
And that is why I have chosen to re-release it for the next
48 hours only.
You can get The Manifesto Of Strength, as well as 5 of
my other out-of-print e books in my 33rd Birthday Package.
http://hulsestrength.com/go/elliotts-33rd-birthday-sale
This package and the books in it will probably NEVER be
available again… especially at such a crazy low price.
It’s my way of thanking you for reading my newsletter and
helping me celebrate my birthday.
Enjoy

Elliott’s Birthday (a gift for YOU)
So I’m 33 today.
And honestly… it’s like, “who cares?”
I think all of the birthdays between your 21st and your
40th birthday pretty much go unnoticed for most people.
You turn 21 and everyone is excited that you can
legally drink alcohol.
You turn 40 and everyone is anxious because you’re
about half-way dead.
After that it’s pretty much just a countdown until your
six feet underground.
Today I turned 33… and I would have forgotten if it
weren’t for people posting it on my Facebook wall
But I’m actually pretty cool with that… I’ve never been
the type to celebrate myself too much.
I think there is a level of inner emptiness that accompanies
most people narcissism.
Instead, I’m gonna hook YOU up with a cool gift for my
birthday.
You can check it out at the site below:
http://hulsestrength.com/go/elliotts-33rd-birthday-sale
You’ll find some stuff at the website above that you CAN
NOT get anywhere else.
It includes all of my “out-of-print” titles, as well as some
previously unreleased stuff.
Enjoy

BLACK MAGIC for Muscles (drink this)
Stories have told by the European settlers of the Americas,
about a strange black drink that the Native Americans
took before going into battle.
The Natives claimed that drinking this “black magic potion”
energized their spirits and brought them strength for their
battle.
I bet that kind of drink could really help someone train harder
in the gym too… right?
We could call it the “Black Magic” For Muscles pre-workout
drink
Hey! — Did you know that you can still get this stuff?
That’s right… read this short article about how to prepare this
stuff the right way in your own kitchen.
I’ve been using this stuff for years, and I still use it everyday!
Grow Stronger,

Elliott Hulse’s Reality TV Show?
If Snoop Dogg and a bunch of overgrown teenagers who live
near the water in New Jersey can have a reality show… then
so should I, right?
Actually, it would be quite boring since almost 100% of my
life revolves around training.
Here is what typical show might look like.
5:30 am - Elliott goes to his gym for his morning TRAINING
session, and to do a few “hand balancing” exercises.
9:00 am - After feeding his children and dropping them off at
school, Elliott gets back his gym to write e mails about
TRAINING.
11:00 am - Elliott answers a video question on YouTube about
TRAINING.
1:00 pm - Elliott works on his new book about TRAINING.
3:00 pm - Elliott TRAINS.
5:00 pm - Elliott takes his daughters to their Crossfit Kids
TRAINING session.
6:30 pm - Elliott feeds his children dinner while his wife,
Colleen, leaves to go to her TRAINING session.
10:30 pm - Elliott falls asleep and gets ready for another day
of TRAINING.
See… so, unless you are as obsessed as I am about training, an
Elliott Hulse reality show would be quite boring
A reality show like that probably won’t get such good ratings…
But if you’re interested in what a day at my gym might look
like, then check out the blog post from my STRENGTHOLOGY
blog below.

How Elliott Handles Losing
-

Anyone who tries to feed you a spoonful of the sweet and sour consolation that “everyone is a winner”, is ignorant of the basic laws of nature.
And in a very insensible way, this person is setting you up for a life far worse than failure. He is setting you up for the most damaging disease of our generation and culture; mediocrity.
Steer clear of any such people and their hazardous advice.
Instead seek the council of men who have tasted the sweetness of victory, endured the sour agony of defeat, AND have generously brought home the valuable lessons only learned by dancing with both.
“Everyone is NOT a winner.”
Winning and losing are as mutually dependent as Night and Day, Winter and Summer or Heaven and Hell.
Without one, the other could not exist.
Without night, there would be no day.
And without losers there would be no winners.
So if everyone truly was a winner, then we might just as well ALL be losers.
To psychologically and philosophically dismiss an essential component to this natural dialectic is to destroy the other.
To say that “everyone is a winner” is as much a form of reckless psychological bondage as to say that “everyone is a loser”.
It robs us of the kinetic energy cultivated by the dance of opposites.
It is in the “dance” between summer and winter that the Earth cultivates its power to grow a single tree and construct a might forest.
It is in the “dance” between the female and male lover that produces the energies needed to bring forth a human life.
It is in the “dance” between the ON and OFF switches, symbolized by the 0 and 1, that gives the entire digital age its power… including the power that you and I are afforded to share this communication.
There is ALWAYS something to be gained from the “dance” of opposites. To kill one partner in the dance is to kill the entire dance.
To embrace the “dance” is to notice, study, experiment and harness the energy inherent in it.
To lose… gives you insight as to WHO you are, WHAT you can change, the creativity to try new ways, and the energy to implement them in order to “dance” another day.
But unlike the dance of seasons that empower the Earth to move forward, which is governed by forces outside its “consciousness”, it is up to the individual man to CONSCIOUSLY extract the power latent within the personal dance that he engages between his darker and brighter selves.
I expect to win.
I train to win.
And I compete, not for the sake of competition – I compete TO WIN.
But today, I am a loser.
This loss is not a sealing of my fate, instead it is a low point in my “dance” meant to energize me to move forward with greater focus and precision — and so the dance continues!
There are a few critical things that my loss today, to a hungry, young athlete, forced me to notice about myself.
First, I did NOT lose because…
** I competed in a heavier weight class than I trained for.
** I suffered a distracting injury during the first event in the competition.
** I was unfamiliar with two of the events in the competition.
Those are merely CIRCUMSTANCES that may have had a hand in my fate… but to rest my judgement in these “excuses” would dis-empower me, strip responsibility from my hands and render me impotent… where I would relinquish my ability to do anything about it.
Instead, my loss is a result of CHARACTER FAILURES.
Ways of being, that I consciously choose to embody, which lead to the down-swing in my dance.
I acted with Arrogance and Resignation. — THAT is why I lost.
There were two games being played out in the competition.
One game took place “under the bar” (or log, for strongman).
And the other one, deep within my mind and soul (or character).
So I’ll begin my recap here, with my character.
+ First, I had become arrogant since winning my first “comeback” show in February. This lead me to train with far less focus. As a result, my workouts were not directed at this competition, instead I trained for fun (not to win).
+ In my arrogance I completely ignored this competition whilst training to where I didn’t even know the weights that would be used in each event. My assumption was, “It doesn’t matter, I’m going to win regardless.”
+ In my arrogance I decided that it would be fine to have a few drinks (with vodka in it) while out for dinner with my wife the night before the competition.
+ In my arrogance I chose not to cut the 8 pounds that I was overweight in order to compete in the under 200 pound weight class that I trained for. Instead, I resorted to the arrogant idea that “Since I’m Elliott Hulse and I always win, I should be able to kick the asses of men even thirty pounds heavier that me.”
+ In my arrogance I quit 10 seconds short of completing the entire last (tie breaking) event in the competition, thinking that “there is no way that this kid is going to catch me.” — and in that instant I not only lost because of arrogance, but there was also a twist of RESIGNATION.
I was tired, and chose to resign the exercise of my will rather than squeeze out the last ounce of energy that my body could have produced in order to seal the win.
THAT is how I lost.
THAT is where my darkness lives.
THAT is what really happened yesterday in the parking lot of a dirty bar and grill in Fort Meyers Florida where about two dozen misfit athletes who enjoy lifting odd objects gathered to see who was the strongest.
THIS is what it looked like:
Things you may notice: My busted face after the Log Press; My pathetic attempt at the Tire Pull race that I didn’t prepare for; My RESIGNATION while walking away from the stone with 10 seconds still on the clock for the last event.
At the conclusion of this competition some of my friends tried to console me by saying, “Hey, this was just a local show, it really isn’t that important”. — to which I replied, “Instead of granting me pardon for a missed step in my dance, I would rather you pray from my grace.”
In the word Grace we find many meanings…
“Grace” comes from the Latin word “gratia” meaning gratitude or thanks.
Grace is also a word used to describe favor or goodwill granted by God or a higher power.
Finally, a dancer who exhibits beauty and elegance in her form and display is said to be graceful.
In my experience THAT is exactly how it works!
First we choose to have GRATITUDE even in times of adversity. We are thankful for “darkness”, “winter seasons” and losing, instead of dismissing these things as if they don’t exist; or that “everyone is a winner”.
Then, we are then granted FAVOR because of our recognition and respect for the laws of nature or God.
Finally, to those who are merely spectators observing as we participate in the “dance” of our lives, it seems as if our every step is infused with BEAUTY AND ELEGANCE!
Keep dancing.
And keep Growing Stronger,
Elliott Hulse
PS – If you found this message supportive and encouraging to you as you DANCE, please share it with others who are also brave enough to get up and dance every single day of their lives.
I find it encouraging to learn about other dancers. We dance far more beautifully “in step” rather than alone or against one another

This One Fear Will Ruin Your Life!
You know how much I love reading and offering quotes
from Ralph Waldo Emerson.
In fact, you might know that I named my daughter Emerson
after this amazing poet.
One of Emerson’s quotes that has been of great support during
times of challenge is…
“Do the thing you fear, and the death of fear is inevitable.”
The funny thing with fear is that it’s kinda sneaky.
A lot of people remain in relationships they hate, jobs that sap
their souls, and follow useless routines that offer no results
because it’s…
“The right thing to do” OR “It’s the only logical choice.”
When you try to show these people how the “right thing” is
totally subjective and that they are really not bond to the ideas
of other people, except by their own permission, they refuse to
hear it. (many even become angry with you!)
The fact is that they don’t choose to continue to live a life of
quiet desperation because “it’s the only logical choice”.
They live this way because they are FEARFUL of the unknown.
If all you have ever eaten was hot dogs, you might reject an
offer to try a sweet, juicy, rare piece of Filet Minion!
And what kind of life would that be?
Lots of people, especially guys who lift weights, have a huge
fear of stretching, or yoga-type exercises.
They give you all type of seemingly rational reasons why
stretching is bad for strength and muscle (mostly regurgitated
guru garbage).
But the fact is that they are scared!
Scared that it may be a challenge. It may be something that they
have difficulty doing right away.
So here is another Emerson quote for guys like that:
“Do the thing, and have the power!”
That means, get off your ass and DO IT… then you’ll get the
power.
When it comes to fitness, I am as brave as they get!
I’ve tried almost EVERYTHING.
In fact, right now I am heavily involved in the strengthening of
my gymnastic strength and body weight exercise for mobility.
I’ll be sharing more about my new methods later on.
But for now, you might want to add some of these interesting
yoga-type moves to your routine.

Unless you’re too scared?

“King Kong Ain’t Got S*it On Me!” (grand arrogance)
The legendary personal development teacher Earl
Nightingale once said…
“ATTITUDE is the most important word in the English
language.”
What he means is the way you feel about yourself and
the character you exhibit is far, far more important in
reaching your goals than your talents, strengths or
skills.
A strong attitude not only affects the way other people
see you — but it greatly affects the way YOU see
YOURSELF.
This idea always reminds me to of a scene in the movie
“Training Day” when Denzel Washington is surrounded
by all of the other gangsters in the neighborhood with
their guns drawn.
They threaten to kill him, but in his grand arrogance he
gives an emotionally fueled speech where he reminds them
of how powerful he is (or thinks he is).
Then he drops the best line in the movie, “King Kong
ain’t got s*it on me!”
Sometimes when I’m training I like to play this scene in
my head and I even go as far as to remind my training
partners that “King Kong ain’t got s*it on me!”
It’s all about ATTITUDE!
And your attitude is shaped by the stories that you tell
yourself about who you are and what you are capable
of.
Are you entertaining stories about how you’re not big
enough, smart enough, good looking enough, strong
enough?
Or are entertaining the idea that King Kong ain’t got
s*it on you?
Either way, there IS a story about yourself that you’ve
accepted and believe.
On of the best ways to develop an awesome attitude, is to
do awesome things.
Like cleaning and jerking 200, 300 or 400 pounds overhead!
Not only does a feat like that require a strong attitude, but
it requires that you discipline yourself towards learning the
skills to make it happen.
All of the Olympic Lifts… the clean, jerk and snatch require
strength, speed, skill and attitude.
You can learn more about developing the strength, speed and
skills to do it with the videos on the website below:
http://www.hulsestrength.com/recommends/olympic-lifts
But you can ONLY develop the attitude to it within your very
own mind.
Talk to ya tomorrow.

Elliott’s Man Muscle Addiction
Before I tell you about my Man Muscles I just want to give
you a heads up that the Savage Strength System for building
beastly functional strength is still 50% until tonight.
You can decide for yourself at the link below:
http://www.hulsestrength.com/recommends/savage-2
Now…. nothing says “I am a man!” like strong hands!
You can have huge biceps, well rounded shoulders and tree
trunk legs… but if you have a puny grip, you FAIL.
How many times have you met what seems like a beast of
a man, only to shake his hand to discover a limp, impotent
display of his true character.
The hands make the man!
When you have a thick, strong set of hands with rugged fingers
and a warm layer of callous… men and women instinctively
know that you’re a representative from the Alpha Tribe.
This is why combat athletes, soldiers and martial artist spend
so much time building stronger hands and grip.
Your hands say… I am strong, I am a provider, I am a protector,
I am healthy, I can work hard, I have great genetics, I have all
that it take to steer life by it’s horns!
Or not.
The great thing is that you can begin constructing your “keepers
of the house” today.
You can add exercises like grippers, thick bar holds, plate pinches,
wrist rollers and dumb bell farmers walks.
These exercises can be done in ANY gym.
Lifting for strength and manliness is not every gentleman’s “cup of
tea.” — but if you are anything like me, then your workouts are
ALWAYS centered around functional strength.
Here is a great way to build SAVAGE functional strength!
Keep on Growing Stronger,
Elliott Hulse
PS – I am working on a new, and pretty interesting, video for you.
It’s about The 4 Layers Of Strength, and I know you’ll love it!
I hope to have it done by Monday or Tuesday, so keep an eye out
for that.
In the meantime… I am looking for the last 6 dedicated professionals
that I’ll be teaching my most advanced strength and personal
development methods to in March.
If you want to earn a strong living doing what you see me doing, PLUS
helping more people become the strongest version of themselves…
