Powerwheel Core Training For Fun & Functional Fitness
I hate crunches… with a passion.
I hate to do them and I hate making others do them.
So, we have BANNED CRUNCHES at Strength Camp… no one is allowed to do them from hence forth.
We’ll ONLY do this for “core” training for now.

I’ve been using the power wheel for over 2 years now, the first place I saw it was on Matt Fureys site, fell in love with it and ahve nearly all my clients use it at some point. Love jackknives, walking, roll out/in to standing up, hamstring curls. You have a good piece there my friend. God bless you and the family have a Merry Christmas!
Keep risin to the top!

Great stuff Elliot (and definitely keep it coming)!! I definitely hate it when I see my football players doing crunches (EVEN MY LINEMEN!), and I’m always looking for new stuff for core work, so thanks!
This is somewhat similar to something I learned from my college strength coach and that I torture my kids with as well (it also might be an OK alternative while people wait to recieve the roller). It’s basically the same movement done on a hardwood surface where the feet are placed on a towel or two. After “walking” the length of a bball court and back (backwards kills even more for us it seems) my athletes, and I, are completely dead.
Anyway, good stuff, keep it up, and I hope your holidays are going well with your (now bigger!) family and friends.

Elliot,
Do you recommend using this or any other similar type of device if a person gets lower back pain during the roll out portion? In essence it seems as though their anterior core is not strong enough to limit APT and thus a pinching pain in the lumbar…
THanks,
Adam

WHOOAHH! Looks like I need one of these!! Kicking ass starts with a solid core and from the looks of it you got your ass kicked by this piece if plastic.
Keep the info coming my way. I love it.

Thanks for the comments guys… yea, that thing kicks my ass!! I’m working on doing it for 100 yards. I’ll keep you posted.
@Adam – if your having back pain when using the roller… try 2 things.
1. stretch the hip flexors and quads… often when they are tight they will literally “tug” on the lumbar spine and force hyperlordosis. do this before and during the exercise.
2. pull the belly IN. this will activate the deep abdominal wall as well as causing a tighening effect of the fascia surrounding the trunk.
also if they are super weak, start with a limited range of motion.
hope this helps!
