Strongman Competition Elliott Hulse 10.09

710126682_a8tug-l-1I HATE losing… I hate losing so much that once failure has reared it’s ugly face, I don’t even acknowledge it.

I simply pretend like it’s not even there! –

“Just keep it moving, act like it never happened.”

This is a resourceful approach when I’ve done crazy shit like blowing money on a bet or getting my ass kicked when wrestling my my little brother (who is a martial arts instructor and Jujitsu Jui Jit Zu guy).

But when it comes to losing in one of the 4 most important things in my personal development model.

I’ve discovered that FACING the failure is much more benefitial to my spiritual and emotional growth than simply ignoring it.

So, here I am (video below) getting my butt whooped in a Heavy Weight strongman show last month.

Most would argue that taking 3rd place in a show where most of the competitors outweighed me by about 60 pounds is pretty good.

But “pretty good” has NEVER been my goal.

Winning at all costs… that’s how I like to play!

If you’re as COMMITTED To winning at all costs, like I am… then you’ll need to get your hands on the right tools for constructing a super strong physique.

By the way, what blog theme do you use? I’m starting up a fitness business revolving around a blog, and I love your theme!

    Elliott,
Simply put, Thank you for reinforcing and personally motivating me to continue my training at age 60 and showing what “hard work” produces.
    You fired me up, man!
    Keep it coming.
People think I am absolutely insane flipping tractor tire, smashing with the sledgehammer, dragging sleds men half my age would think impossible, etc.
But I know that the reason those individuals believe I am insane is due to the fact that their personal fitness levels just plain suck!
    Keep it coming!
I am so grateful that I found your site!
Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year, Elliott.

Looks like you did really good, especially being the only one to complete the medley.
Im going to have to start training rows and sprints with sleds. You must be in amazing condition for a “flabby strongman”. Good thing that European guy in single digit bodyfat wasnt there to make you look unsexy.
    haha

    Hey Elliott,
Success is what you percieve it to be. No matter how big or strong that you are not many have the balls to do what you do. No matter what the sport or endeavor you put yourself out there to be critizied & judged on a regular basis and I see improvement.

Hell a year ago you didn’t even qualify, then finally got your pro card and now third place. That means that victory is soon to come.

What weights you shifting there mate ? …unfoprtunatley the UK isnt totally geared up for strongman compos which is a shame … our best strongmen is Jimmy Marku born in Albania but represents the UK and the brilliant Mark Felix

I think the log was like 250 lbs.

The deadlifts were up to 650 lbs.

    The tire and sled??

Farmers were about 270 lbs per hand.

The stone was about 320 lbs.

  15. Elliott that was freakin awesome!!!!!! If guys that you train can’t get inspiration from how you perform, they need to check their pulse. I see the Hybrid training has you ripped to shreds as well as super strong. Keep it up, you have a believer in me forever…..

  17. Elliott,

You exude strength. After meeting you I know you bring your A game to everything you do. I never heard one excuse come out of your mouth, just a forward attitude. This vid is inspriring! The big boys need to look out for your A++ game. What you told me at the UG Cert. is stuck in my head. I asked you for Farmers Walk tips, and you said, “Get Stronger”. I love this!

    In Strength,
    Mike G.
