If you think that you need a fancy gym with tons of expensive equipment to get Super Strong and Fast for Football – you haven’t been paying attention!
You see, I train football players in my warehouse gym with nothing more than a few barbells and some homemade equipment.
Below you will find a video of Hunter Thomason – a Sophomore at St. Petersburg High. Hunter came to Strength Camp in March of this year. He weighed about 195 lbs. and could barely do a single chin up. Today, 5 months later Hunter weighs 234 lbs. (thats almost 40 lbs !!!!) and is getting ready to kick ass this season.
We followed the exact system outlined in my Football Strength System to get this kid BIGGER, FASTER & STRONGER. – All we had was a plan, a few tools and a shit load of ATTITUDE!

Keg Carrying: Strongman Exercises

I love this strongman exercise for a number of reasons. First, keg carries train the upper back and hamstrings like nothing else. It’s a truly functional exercise, not the “ball and band” BS that you find in those crossover physical therapy clinics falsely titled “Sports Performance Centers”.
Next, this is anaerobic, cardio-pulminary conditioning at it’s finest. Leave the stationary bike, treadmills and those endless miles at the track for bony “tri-athletes” and “Biggest Loser” contestants. My athletes prepare for football, baseball and wrestling with this exercise. My Men’s Fitness Boot Camp guys melt pound of nasty fat with this exercise also.
Tips: You can make your own kegs with great ease. Obtaining them is tough, but once you have a few… fill them up with water, sand or lead buck shots. Seal them with pipe covers, and there you go! I’ve got a bunch of pics from my keg filling session, I’ll write a report soon and post it for ya.
Tire Flip: Strongman Exercise

Another classic Strongman Exercise and event, tire flipping, is a great exercise for building the essential “Triple Extension” and explosive capacity so coveted by athletes and strength coaches worldwide. Not only will this exercise make your body as strong as Milo’s but it has the incredible capacity to build mental toughness in it’s participant. Nothing make you a stronger man, than flipping a 1200 pound hunk of molded rubber! (that and eating glass!)
Tips: There is not much to tell you about performing this movement except, just lift the freaking thing! Everyone wants to play the “smart guy” role and have you believe that there is a lot to know about performing most exercises when the truth is… Just Do It. Ok, I’m done being an arrogant prick.
Here’s what you might need to know: You’re gonna need a ton of “bottom position” strength and hip flexibility to lift this sucker off of the floor. Grip strength is essential also, in order to break that thing off the floor. Once you’ve got the tire past the knees you’re going to brace the tire with one knee and then prepare to THROW the tire forward. You’ll notice in my video that I sort of “hitch” the tire up my body until it’s high enough to push forward.
