Why the rich get richer and the fat get fatter.
By Elliott | June 3, 2008
Take a look around you and make an assessment of what you see.
Everything around you… so-called “good” and “bad” is just the way you WANT it to be.
If you are broke, its because you want to be.
If you are fat, its because you want to be.
In Larry Winget’s book You’re Broke Because You Want To Be., he describes how it has been your intention to be exactly where you are in life, doing the things you do, getting the things you get and looking the way you look. It has been you CHOICE!
I agree with him fully and would like to take it even one step further.
I think people LIKE being victims. Most people enjoy having a “sob story” to tell. In fact, when some folks don’t have a drama to speak of… they become afraid!
They have become so aligned with “loserdom” that when it doesnt present itself by default… they go looking for it.
I hear you… “Elliott, why the hell would anyone choose to be a loser?… That’s crazy and you’re an asshole!”
Yes, I am an asshole and here is a list of “good reasons” to be a victim. These are the very reasons why most people live and die below their potential.
1. Being a victim relinquishes responsibility to…. your sex, race, parents, boss, kids, wife, genes, The Man, cigarette companies, Kellogg’s - WHOM EVER YOU CHOOSE, except yourself.
2. Being a victim attracts pity, and who doesn’t love to be pit tied. “Oh, you poor soul may God have mercy on you.”
3. Being a victim allows you to pose as a hero. “He is so strong, staying with that bitch who beats him.” “Oh, what a saint accepting all that abuse from his mentally ill teen aged son.” “I could never be as brave as Al and stay in that lousy job to raise my family… he’s so committed!”
4. Being a victim gives you a platform to argue from, and most people LOVE defending their victim hood. “It’s not my fault, it’s in my genes!” “You’d never understand what it’s like growing up with an alcoholic father.” “If the color of my skin was different I would be a ’shoe-in’ for that job.” “What would you do if everytime you come home your kids were smoking pot?”
So take a look around again… go, DO IT! What sucky situations are YOU a victim of?
What are you gonna do about it?
Tell me your story (respond to this blog by clicking “Comments” below). If you are REALLY in a situation where you have no choice… If there is nothing that you can choose to make life better.
I want to hear your sob story, tell me about your victim hood! I’m sure there are a few of you that have GREAT ones. You’re very passionate about it! Let it out. Curse me out. Let ME be the object of your wrath.
