The WRONG Reps And Sets
Yo! Before we get into today’s lesson I just wanted to give you
an update about my 2nd Tough Mudder experience this weekend.
Although the obstacles were a bit tougher this time around, I felt
it was a much easier, especially since I am about 20 lbs. lighter
than earlier this year.
If you wanna see some pics just click over to my facebook page
to check em out. (there is one with me sprinting up a half pike!)
Also, if you wanna see how I trained during the last few weeks
leading up to this psychotic race, you can just search the archives
over at Strength Camp Workouts, if you are a member.
Okay, now…
How many REPS and SETS should you be using to:
Build Muscle Size,
Increase Muscle Strength,
Get Harder / Leaner Muscles,
Improve Power and Speed?
Well… the first thing I can tell you is that whatever you see most
people doing at the gym is totally BACKWARDS!
You’ve got guys trying to get stronger who lift in the 12 – 15 rep
range, and you’ve got guys looking to build muscle who lift in the
1-3 rep range!
And if YOU happen to be one of those guys… you can attest that
it just doesn’t work.
There are specific rep, set, rest interval, tempo and frequency
parameters for each and every muscle quality you are trying to
build.
As a rule of thumb; heavy weights with low volume and long rest
intervals are best for STRENGTH gains.
Moderate weights with higher volume and short rest intervals are
best for MUSCLE size (or hypertrophy) gains.
So today when you hit the gym after work keep those general rules
in mind.
Also, keep in mind that I post ever single workout that me, my clients
and athletes perform here at my gym on the Strength Camp Members
website.
Plus, every week or so I post a comprehensive Q and A video with
all of their strength questions in the most comprehensive manner
possible (just like in my Yo Elliott videos, only better).
Later this month I will be posting my new “Muscle Virus Vaccine”
formula for identifying and destroying muscle virus in the members
only section of the website.
If you want to get that for free, you have to be a member… otherwise
you can just wait and pay full price for it early next year.
Either way is cool with me.

Just out of interest, how are you deciding what they want (their goals) from watching their training?
Cheers,
